Lector

Lector takes the same physiology as Ostensor and tells it in plainer language. The mechanisms are the same, and so is the evidence behind them; only the register changes.

One idea, several depths

Each Lector topic is written at more than one level, from a version a young reader can follow to one that suits an undergraduate. Every level tells the same story with the same real parts. A simpler version is a doorway into a harder one, not a substitute for it.

Plain, but not simplified

We use ordinary words where they serve and explain the technical ones where they are needed. The aim is not to thin the science out, but to make its logic easy to follow.

A way up into the full account

The top of the ladder opens onto the Ostensor version of the same mechanism: the specialist account, with its sources in view. Read as far up as you like, and follow it into Ostensor when you want the primary literature behind it.

Sector takes physiological function apart into the structures that decide what can pass, what must move, what must not cross, and those that carry load and tension across the body.
